Phase 1 of Flight Training

Phase 1

Phase one nominally lasts 8 weeks, and is conducted at our Port Alfred Training Centre in South Africa. You will learn how to fly a light aircraft, go solo, learn to deal with non-normal situations, navigate across country, and fly on instruments. This phase will culminate with a skills test, and award of a Private Pilot’s Licence which will permit you to operate alone in South African airspace.

Along-side the flying training you will learn about the theory of flying. In many training programmes you’d be left to your own devices with a textbook to self teach the basics. However, on our programme you will undergo an intense course of lectures delivered by highly experienced instructors, preparing you for the first set of theory examinations.

Life is not all work and no play. The Port Alfred campus is world class. If you sign up for the accommodation package, you’ll be living on base, and have access to all the campus facilities.
