There are a number of options for the order of the remaining three licence courses.
The most economical way of completing your training for the Commercial Pilot’s Licence skill test (CPL) is to fly a single-engine aircraft. The minimum requirement is a 25hr course (including 10 hours instrument flying or “IR”), unless you already hold an Instrument Rating, when the 10 hours IR are not required, making it a 15 hour course. The 10 hours IR may be completed in a simulator, but it is rare for people to take up this option. Our standard course is 25 hours in a Piper Arrow, at our Bristol, UK training centre. The course normally takes about 4 weeks (subject to weather and your own progression). We will provide you with regular feedback on your performance so there will be no surprises.
An alternative for students who are fully prepared for this level of training, offering good-value compared to the separate single-engine CPL and Multi-Engine Piston courses is to combine the CPL and Multi-Engine Piston course. The combined course is 28 hours long. The overall cost is generally little more than the separate single-engine CPL and ME courses, but has the advantage of only one skills test, and you log more hours in ME aircraft at little extra cost.
